   Bargain Books of Virginia has been around for over 40 years and is one of the great places to find a wide variety of new and used books in this area.

   The staff is knowledgeable about the books they carry, offering tidbits on other writers or books you might enjoy.  Courteous and friendly, you will feel very comfortable browsing for your favorites.

   A great little bookstore, Bargain Books is located on Granby Street in Norfolk at famous Ward’s Corner.  The proprietor, Lynn, runs a friendly, well-stocked, general new and used bookstore with very reasonable prices. They know great and interesting books and a visit there will not disappoint even the most dedicated readers.

  She keeps up with all the latest printing of New York’s Best Top Ten titles and authors and also has a wide assortment of new books from all genres.

Bargain Books is always interested in buying quality used books. Here's what you can expect when selling your books to us.  

Condition

The condition of the books is important. We are always trying to improve the condition of our stock. It's the first thing we check on every book we buy.

If we pass on your books due to their condition, it's nothing personal. At some point every book becomes too worn for us to display and sell.  This is how we can provide good condition books for you to take from.

  We have many books in the non-fiction sections spread throughout our store.  They range from Romance to Spy Novels, from Murder Mysteries to Horror to Science Fiction and Fantasy.  How about a great Western?  If you like Biographies or Historical Novels or, perhaps, Educational and Self Help books, African American Books, books on other lands, we always have a variety in stock.  Gardening, Cooking, The Arts and ‘Other Arts’ the list goes on.  You will find it here!

And, for the younger set, we carry a good assortment of Children’s Books and Young Adults, Fiction and Non-Fiction. 

When Do We Buy Books?

Just bring your books in when it's convenient for you. There's no appointment necessary.  We can usually check your books in just a few minutes, while you wait. If we're backlogged with other collections, we'll let you know when it’s ready while you’re browsing.  Your receipt will be right up at the front when you are ready.

Bargain Books Trading: Regular size paperbacks receive a credit value of 1/4 the book's cover price. Larger size paperbacks receive a credit value of $2.00. Credits are good on used books only.

Bargain Books Trading Policy: Only used books are accepted for trading. Only 40 books traded per day per person or group - all stickers of any kind must be removed from books. Books must have a cover price of $4.95 or more. Monthly Romance Series (Harlequin, Silhouette, etc.) must be dated current year or prior year. Sorry but BMI Edition, Precious Gem and To Love Again romances are not accepted. There are three types of books when brought in for trade: Science Fiction Group / Fantasy Paranormal Group / General  / All Others

When books are brought in, they should be separated into one of these three groups and a credit will be given for each group. Credits are good on same type of books only - credits are not good on purchases of Clearance books.

Please note: we cannot be responsible for books once they leave the store.We reserve the right to refuse any book that does not meet our standards and/or to place trading restrictions on any individual customers.
